To Grow You Must ________________
Doctrine – means “____________________________________”
2. To learn you must ________________
VS. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the _______________ doctrine
3. To hear you must ________________________
VS. 42 And they continued steadfastly
If you stop _________________________________ for a while, you’ll __________________________to its instruction
One reason is: 1. We don’t make the _____________________
Another reason is: 2. We don’t know __________________into Scripture.
A third reason: 3. We don’t appreciate the ____________________________ of Scripture
Apostle’s Teaching—Refers to everything the apostles learned from Jesus (see Matt 28:20) as well as the facts and meaning of His death, burial, resurrection and ascension (gospel for individuals aor the “gospel”). As the apostles’ lived out their commission, they explained the implications of the nd churches and these teachings/letters were later collected and became what we now know as the New Testament.
ICEBREAKER—•Did your family eat together when you were a kid? Now?
APPLY THE Scripture : Read Acts 2:42-47. What inspires, excites, and encourages you about this passage? Is there anything in these verses that makes you leery, suspicious, or uncomfortable?
Q1— Is it important to spend time with a group of recognizable followers of Jesus both in corporate worship (in the temple courts) and in a more intimate setting (from house to house)? Why or why not?
Q2—. What activity from verse 42 do you need to devote yourself to?
Q3— What do you (personally) naturally desire most in your church experience: apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, or prayers? Why? How much does past church experience play into how we view these in our current church?
Q4— Share a story of a time when a community of friends held you up during a hard time.
Q5—Are you devoted to the apostles’ teaching both as an individual and as part of a local church? Why or why not?
Q6—. Should we be expecting conversions daily (or weekly) or is this unusual? What in us would hinder God sending revival?
A LITTLE Reset HOMEWORK:
Spend some time responding to this week’s discussion in prayer. Pray specifically that we’ll see moments of collective joy, local favor, and numerical growth during this season.
